January 21, 2019 – The Canadian Association for the Prevention of Discrimination and Harassment in Higher Education (CAPDHHE) condemns the behaviour of the group of Kentucky teens who taunted Nathan Phillips, Omaha Elder and US veteran at the Indigenous Peoples March in Washington on Friday, January 18, 2019.

We stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island and demand dignity and respect for all. This troubling incident highlights our responsibility to educate young people on the important work of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and acknowledging their special place as the first peoples of North America.

21 janvier 2019 – L’Association canadienne pour la prévention de la discrimination et du harcèlement en milieu d’enseignement supérieur (ACPDHMES) condamne le comportement du groupe d’adolescents du Kentucky qui ont provoqué Nathan Phillips, Omaha Elder et ancien combattant américain lors de la Marche des peuples autochtones à Washington le vendredi 18 janvier 2019.

Nous sommes solidaires des peuples autochtones de l'île de la Tortue et demandons dignité et respect pour tous. Cet incident troublant souligne notre responsabilité d'éduquer les jeunes sur l'important travail de vérité et réconciliation avec les peuples autochtones et de reconnaître leur place particulière en tant que premiers peuples d'Amérique du Nord.
